What is Universal Prekindergarten (UPK)?

"UPK is an umbrella term that includes the California State Preschool Program (CSPP), TK at the California Department of Education, as well as Head Start, district and local community-based preschool programs, early learning services for students with disabilities, private pay preschool, and expanded learning options to support access to a full day of services." Source: California Department of Education, UPK FAQ

Expanding enrollment in preschool and Transitional Kindergarten is part of California's Universal Prekindergarten Plan, which aims to provide all children with early and equal access to learning opportunities in order to put them on a path to success throughout their lives.

REACH is exploring the option of expanding our current UPK program-- adding to our TK program and creating a Preschool program. You can help by filling out our UPK Parent Survey linked here.
