Dr. Rochelle Evans
Principal
With great enthusiasm, I introduce myself as an experienced educator dedicated to transforming teaching practices, fostering equitable learning environments, and elevating students’ achievement levels. With over three decades of invaluable K-12 education experience and eight years of higher education teaching at the university level, I am committed to guiding teachers and students toward excellence.
Throughout my journey, I have been privileged to immerse myself in the difficulties of education, specializing in critical areas that lay the foundation for effective instruction and enriched student experiences. My passion lies in empowering educators with the knowledge, skills, and strategies necessary for meaningful change using the Science of Reading methodologies and a Multi-Tiered System of Support for academics and behavior.
In my career, I have been instrumental in designing and delivering professional development sessions on literacy, writing, Multi-Tier System of Supports (MTSS), culturally responsive instruction, equity and inclusion, and professional learning communities. I recognize that these elements form the cornerstone of an inclusive and effective learning environment, where every student can thrive.
One of my proudest achievements is my role in implementing systems that enable schools to bridge the academic gap in reading fluency and comprehension. Through structured literacy and data-driven insights, I have facilitated growth beyond textbooks, fostering a love for learning and promoting the development of well-rounded individuals.
Beyond my professional accomplishments of working with teachers and students, I have embarked on a few personal accomplishments like earning a Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership from Argosy University (2013), a Master Degree in Education Administration (2003), a Master Degree in General Sociology (2001), and a Baccalaureate Degree in Liberal Studies all from California State University, Dominguez Hills.
I am dedicated to empowering teachers and students with the knowledge needed for our future generation of professional citizens to build a culture of excellence, equity and innovation.
I chose to transition from being a principal in a public district to leading a public charter school because I thrive on learning, growth, and new challenges. This move allows me to experience a different facet of education, expand my leadership skills, and work within a structure that fosters innovation and flexibility. I value the opportunity to collaborate with diverse stakeholders, explore creative approaches to teaching and learning, and contribute to a mission-driven environment that directly impacts student achievement in meaningful ways.
