Dr. Amy Aguirre
7th Grade Science Teacher
Dr. Amy Florence Aguirre began her professional journey in the field of medicine after earning her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Loma Linda University School of Pharmacy. She spent several years working as both a retail and clinical pharmacist before transitioning into education in 2017. Driven by a passion to inspire future leaders in healthcare, she began teaching middle school science in the San Bernardino City Unified School District and later earned her Career and Technical Education credential in Health Science and Medical Technology.
At REACH, Dr. Aguirre has found a vibrant and uplifting school culture that she deeply values. She loves the sense of unity built through the House system and appreciates the opportunity to connect with scholars through meaningful and engaging learning experiences. One of her proudest accomplishments is creating a Medical Pathway elective that introduces students to the medical field and equips them with foundational skills for future careers. She finds immense personal reward in using her medical background to encourage young people to dream big and lead with purpose.
Outside the classroom, Dr. Aguirre is an avid runner who frequently participates in local 5Ks such as the San Bernardino Turkey Trot and Run Through Redlands. She also enjoys painting, building LEGO sets, solving puzzles, and spending time at Disneyland with her Magic Key pass. A fan of the Hunger Games series—especially Catching Fire—she brings that same spirit of perseverance and passion to her teaching. Her favorite foods include chicken posole and birria tacos.
Dr. Aguirre currently holds a National Board Certification in Health Education and works each summer with Pearson to assess National Board candidates. She is also a former middle school cross-country coach and cherishes the memories of cheering her scholars on as they crossed the finish line. She believes teaching is one of the most powerful ways to impact generations—and she’s honored to do that work every day at REACH.
